Empowered.

Caught in a life or death situation, what would your reaction be?
Running your first 5K and you approach the finish line, what would your reaction be?
Losing at the game of Monopoly, what would your reaction be?

There are points in our lives where we will feel a feeling of defeat.
There are points in our lives where we will feel a feeling of success.

What reaction will we express in that moment?

Empowerment.

How?

How can we feel empowered?

When educators feel supported their outlook on education changes.  The trials become challenges. The failures become opportunities.  The negative mindset becomes shades of growth. All we need is support.  We need to know that we are valued. We need to know that we are heard.  We need to know that mountains will be moved for us. We need to know that it is okay to take risks.  We need to know we are trusted.

Often educators who are in empowering positions take for granted the support that they have, until they are exposed to the reality of the "outside". We, as educators, must empower other educators in need. We must be a listener. We must be an encourager. We must give hope. We must fight for them. We must be a voice for them.

We crave empowerment.

Why?

Why is it necessary we feel empowered?

It all boils down to the students (like everything should). An educator's perspective in decisive moments are contagious.  They will be seen by our students. They will be felt by our students. They will be learned by our students.  They will be reenacted by our students.

What would you want your students to see? Defeat? Success?

Students need to be exposed to choices.  They need to feel like they are leaders of their own learning. We are molding our future. We are creating the next generation. We are setting expectations to be achieved. We are smiling to let them know their worth. We are guiding them to let them know they are not alone.

They crave empowerment.

YOU matter.
You are an INSPIRER!
You are an EDUCATOR!

Just a shoutout... thanks for the inspiration from our chat tonight.
